The Lange Companies is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team. In this self‑motivated and highly organized role you will support the accounting team and work closely with the Controller on month and year‑end closing procedures, tax return preparation, account reconciliations, and compensation calculations.
Responsibilities- Assist with the month‑end close by calculating accruals and posting journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, research and correct unusual variances, and review accounts reconciled by other associates.
- Assist with monthly bank reconciliations; identify and research issues and resolve problems with the appropriate office.
- Assist with accounts payable, including reviewing invoices and expense reports prepared and reviewed by the AP associate.
- Assist with year‑end audit by gathering information, preparing reconciliations, and posting journal entries.
- Assist with federal, state, and local tax return preparations by gathering PBCs and communicating with outside tax professionals.
- Assist with unclaimed property and other local tax issues.
- Prepare internal financial reports, forecasts, and analyses.
- Assist with verification of wire transactions, setting up the ACH process, and balancing; maintain a complete record of all transactions.
- Assist with compensation postings and reporting.
- Assist with commission and bonus calculations and postings.
- Resolve daily operational problems by aiding other accounting associates.
- Apply GAAP to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s general ledger accounts.
- Assist with preliminary and year‑end financial audits, annual financial plan, and year‑end close.
- Act as necessary backup for other accounting staff during sick leave and PTO.
- Perform other duties as assigned and directed by management.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business.
- 6–8 years’ accounting experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills.
- Experienced in using accounting software and report writer.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated with a sense of urgency for the tasks at hand.
- Ability to function as a team player.
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
- Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Public accounting or SOX compliance experience preferred.
