Tax Compliance Accountant
* LOCAL St. Louis MO candidates only*

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Tax Compliance Accountant to support a variety of accounting, tax compliance, treasury, and financial administration activities. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, account reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and related financial obligations. The position will work closely with internal teams and external accounting professionals to support compliance and maintain accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
  • Calculate, prepare, and file sales, excise, and other applicable tax returns in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Monitor changes in tax rates, regulations, and filing requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Gather and analyze financial information needed to support accurate tax reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external tax professionals as needed.
Account Reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including general ledger tax accounts.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies and ensure account balances are accurate and properly supported.
  • Assist with month-end close and other accounting activities as needed.
Property Taxes, Licenses & Regulatory Filings
  • Coordinate the payment and reporting of real estate and other applicable property taxes.
  • Prepare and submit personal property declarations and business license renewals.
  • Monitor filing and payment deadlines to ensure timely compliance.
  • Review tax assessments and adjustments and assist with filing appeals or disputes when appropriate.
Banking & Treasury Management
  • Support banking relationships, transactions, and account administration.
  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for banking activities.
  • Assist with maintaining effective banking processes, controls, and procedures.
  • Support cash management and other treasury-related activities.
  • Assist with financial reporting, account analysis, and other general accounting functions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external accounting resources on financial and tax-related matters.
  • Perform other accounting, finance, and compliance duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience or experience in a similar financial role.
  • Demonstrated experience with tax compliance and regulatory filings.
Qualifications
  • Experience with account reconciliations, month-end close, and treasury or cash management activities.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external professionals.
