Director, Accounting
The Director, Accounting provides strategic leadership on key accounting processes, including emerging and complex projects to ensure accurate and efficient financial results. This Director is responsible for the oversight of Ameren's commodity settlements and the calculation and accounting of multiple customer billing mechanisms. This Director plays a key role in developing and executing Ameren accounting policies, procedures, and controls. This position partners with leaders across Ameren to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting while driving continuous improvement and compliance initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure accurate and timely financial statements are filed with regulatory agencies.
- Provide insights, analysis, and recommendations to support accounting and finance matters across Ameren.
- Lead the implementation and integration of new accounting and business processes, system implementations, and the impact of new accounting standards.
- Serve as a trusted advisor across the company to ensure significant transactions are identified, assessed for accounting impacts, and integrated into accounting processes.
- Accountable for developing and maintaining an effective internal control environment and financial reporting framework that promotes the integrity and accuracy of the Company's financial statements.
- Review quarterly and annual Securities and Exchange Commission filings as well as federal and state regulatory reports.
- Oversee and review customer rate adjustment filings pursuant to state commission tariffs.
- Lead accounting transformation initiatives, including process redesign, automation, and technology implementations to improve efficiency and control effectiveness.
- Build organizational capability through talent development, mentoring, succession planning, performance management, and employee engagement initiatives. Develops the business and financial acumen of others across the company.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited college or university required. Degree in Accounting preferred.
- CPA certification required.
- 10 or more years of financial reporting experience required.
- Utility regulatory experience is preferred.
- 5 or more years of supervisory experience leading people or projects is required. Direct people leadership experience is preferred.

Proven analytical skills, able to make sound decisions with ambiguous information and analyze complex data. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence across organizational boundaries and effectively partner with senior leaders. Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change and drive operational excellence. Ability to manage multiple working groups, priorities, and deadlines concurrently.
