Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: St. Louis

Native Pet is re-imagining pet nutrition for a new generation of pet parents. We make dog-approved supplements to help consumers nourish their pets. Our clean-label products, developed with leading veterinary nutritionists, leverage whole food and superfood ingredients backed by clinical research to deliver real, functional health benefits. We are in high growth mode as we scale across the digital and retail landscapes.

Our ambition is to be the global leader in the pet consumable category.

About the Role

Native Pet is seeking a Sourcing Manager to build, expand, and continuously upgrade the supplier base behind our fast-growing brand. This is not a passive procurement role. The core mandate is to find better supply before we need it. You will actively hunt for new raw material and packaging suppliers, pressure-test incumbent partners, negotiate commercial terms, and reduce risk across our supply chain as we scale.

You will own sourcing strategy end-to-end and also oversee purchasing execution, but success in this role is measured by optionality created, costs improved, and risk reduced. You’ll work closely with Finance, Quality, Planning, and Innovation and will have high visibility across leadership.

Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development (Primary Focus)
  • Proactively identify, vet, and qualify new raw material and packaging suppliers to support cost reduction, quality improvement, innovation, and supply continuity.
  • Build and maintain a forward-looking pipeline of alternative suppliers across key categories, even when current supply is “working fine.”
  • Continuously benchmark incumbent suppliers against the market on cost, quality, service, lead times, and risk.
  • Stay ahead of market dynamics including pricing trends, capacity constraints, and geopolitical risk that could impact supply.
  • Lead RFQs, cost modeling, and supplier transitions from discovery through qualification and launch.
  • Negotiate pricing, MOQs, lead times, payment terms, and long-term supply agreements to protect margins and improve working capital.
  • Reduce single-source exposure and create redundancy across critical inputs.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure suppliers meet compliance, documentation, and performance expectations.
Procurement & Buying (Secondary Focus)
  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing for raw materials and packaging, ensuring alignment with demand plans and inventory targets.
  • Track material costs against forecasts and flag inflation, volatility, or savings opportunities early.
  • Coordinate closely with Planning to ensure supply availability as volumes scale.
Supplier Performance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance against KPIs and lead quarterly business reviews to drive accountability and improvement.
  • Partner with Finance, Quality, and Innovation to support new product development and scale-up.
What Your Background Looks Like
  • 3–5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain (CPG, food, or pet strongly preferred).
  • Proven track record of finding and qualifying new suppliers, not just managing existing ones.
  • Comfortable cold-outreaching suppliers, pushing through “no,” and negotiating tough conversations.
  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to build clean cost models and challenge assumptions.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating with ambiguity.
  • Strong communicator who can work effectively across Finance, Quality, and Product teams.
What Success Looks Like
  • Measurable COGS improvement driven by sourcing, not just volume growth.
  • Increased supplier redundancy across key ingredients and packaging.
  • Faster onboarding of new, innovation-ready suppliers.
  • Fewer surprises when volumes scale.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary with opportunity for equity and performance-based upside.
  • High-impact role with visibility across leadership in a fast-growing, venture-backed CPG brand.
  • The chance to meaningfully shape how Native Pet sources and scales its supply chain.
  • Flexible work environment and open vacation policy.
  • St. Louis office located in the City Foundry campus and yes, pets are always welcome.
