Position Summary. The Associate Manager, Procurement is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that deliver measurable business results. This role partners closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, lead sourcing activities, manage suppliers, and provide subject‑matter expertise across assigned categories. The Associate Manager ensures effective strategy alignment, operational excellence, and proactive value creation across the procurement lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Category Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute short‑and-long‑term category strategies aligned with Energizer’s business objectives
- Build and maintain a project pipeline based on stakeholder plans, business needs, and market insights
- Establish category metrics; monitor and communicate performance to stakeholders and Proc leadership
- Ongoing evaluation of strategies based on market analysis, risk assessments, and changing market conditions
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Serve as the primary liaison with stakeholders to understand requirements, align on sourcing methodologies, and ensure procurement’s ongoing value contribution
- Use strong influencing and stakeholder‑management skills to build trust, secure alignment, and drive adoption of recommended strategies
- Sourcing & Negotiations
- Lead sourcing events in accordance with Energizer’s strategic sourcing process, including data collection, opportunity analysis, RFI/RFP development, and supplier evaluation
- Create effective sourcing and negotiation plans; lead negotiations to achieve cost savings, value creation, and cash‑flow improvements
- Manage contract renewals and ensure compliance with procurement policies and processes
- Supplier Relationship Management
- Act as the category subject‑matter expert and manage key supplier relationships
- Conduct benchmarking, should‑cost analysis, and competitive intelligence reviews to identify opportunities for improvement
- Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure ongoing supplier performance and compliance
- Analysis, Reporting & Tools
- Perform advanced quantitative and financial analysis using Excel, Ariba, SAP, and related tools
- Provide reporting, tracking, and analysis of key categories and sourcing data
- Use eProcurement and eSourcing methodologies to enhance efficiency and transparency
- Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and develop Buyers, providing coaching, guidance, and performance feedback
- Act as an internal coach on the Energizer Strategic Sourcing Process and help elevate procurement capabilities across the team
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5–7 years’ experience in procurement, operations, analytics, or related field with a track record of successfully managing complex projects
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and financial‑analysis skills
- Advanced Excel/PowerPoint/Access skills (beyond basic data entry)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to business audiences
- Highly self‑motivated, able to lead change in a decentralized environment
- Strong understanding of cost drivers, working capital, and financial metrics
- Experience in contract negotiations, project leadership, and strategic planning
- Knowledge of eProcurement and eSourcing methodologies (SAP and SAP Ariba preferred)
