Summer Camp Lead – Camp Flyers Club

  • Seasonal position, part-time and full-time hours available
  • Schedule:

    Monday-Friday, June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2027
  • Camp hours: 7:00 a.m.

    - 6:00 p.m., Shift options vary
    • AM

      Hours:

      6:45 am – 9:15 am (Monday – Friday)
    • PM

      Hours:

      3:00 pm – 6:00 pm (Monday – Friday)
    • Day

      Hours:

      8:00 am – 4:00 pm (Monday – Friday)
  • Starting hourly rate: $16.79
  • Non‑exempt; benefits not included

Summary:

The Summer Camp Lead Counselor is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children participating in Camp Flyers Club. This role involves leading daily activities, supervising campers and staff, and ensuring all safety procedures and program guidelines are followed. The Lead Counselor works collaboratively with Camp Supervisors and Camp Aides to create a fun, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate camp experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, positive, and compassionate camp environment.
  • Plan, organize, and implement daily activities and lesson plans that promote social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Lead group activities, games, arts and crafts, and enrichment experiences both indoors and outdoors.
  • Promote positive social behavior using effective guidance and behavior management strategies.
  • Develop individual goals and support plans for children as needed.
  • Monitor all aspects of the program site to ensure children’s safety at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and orderly environment.
  • Identify and report broken equipment, hazards, or unsafe situations immediately.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies and critical situations.
  • Administer medication and maintain documentation in accordance with department and district policies.
  • Model respectful, professional, and caring relationships with children, families, staff, and the community.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and families, including assisting with newsletters and updates.
  • Collaborate with Camp Supervisors, Camp Aides, and other staff to ensure program success.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with district policies.
  • Record accurate attendance and child data.
  • Collect and analyze information from multiple sources to support individualized planning.
  • Follow all accommodation plans and ensure inclusive support for all campers.
  • Attend all required training, meetings, and professional development sessions.
  • Serve as a role model in a team environment.
  • Participate in a variety of activities while supervising children, including swimming, field trips, guest speakers, special events, games, songs, and arts & crafts.
  • Lift or push up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Use visual and auditory awareness to respond to critical situations and act swiftly in emergencies.
  • Perform duties both indoors and outdoors.
  • Adhere to all Lindbergh School policies and procedures.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned to support camp operations.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree, minimum of 18 years old, college credits preferred, and experience working with children in a similar setting.
