Position Summary
The Junior Estimator should have a foundational, working knowledge of building materials and understand the requirements for various construction projects. They will focus on non-self-performing work, interacting with subcontractors for bids. This position assists Estimators in the preconstruction process to gather information and data.
Minimum Qualifications- 2 – 5 years of estimating experience in heavy industrial, water treatment, or civil construction.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering; or equivalent experience.
- Currently living in the St. Louis metro area.
- Knowledge of estimating and scheduling software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc.) and proficiency in Microsoft Word systems.
- Operate with an understanding of the project demands and needed resources to handle non-self-performing work.
- Work with subcontractors to send bid invites and review bids received.
- Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct research to obtain data and gather information on costs.
- Collect metrics, review documents, and assist with building a timeline.
- Collect key construction documents, such as property plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Assist in communications with suppliers, contractors, vendors, and materials for projects.
- Make visits to construction sites, warehouses, and other such venues to gather insights about the project.
- Assist in developing a work schedule for project completion.
- Assist with material takeoff and apply current pricing knowledge.
- Build relationships and maintain a directory of vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
- Work with key personnel, including engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and business owners.
- Stay up to date with building codes and industry trends.
Starting at $70,000 annually. Commensurate with experience.
