The Role

The Safety Manager will support project staff and the TW Constructors safety team to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. Responsibilities include developing a zero injury safety culture, conducting weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, communicating orientations to new project workers, reviewing subcontractor daily pre‑task safety analysis, promoting daily stretch and flex program, identifying project trends and executing proactive safety initiatives, supporting corporate goals, encouraging near‑miss/hazard reporting, coaching workers, reporting incidents, and championing safe work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weekly documented jobsite safety inspections.
  • Develop and support a zero‑injury safety culture on each project.
  • Direct orientations for all new project workers.
  • Assist with and review subcontractor daily pre‑task safety analysis.
  • Identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents.
  • Report all incidents effectively and timely.
  • Assist in development of the project safety program.
  • Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees; administer and record participation and issue identification.
  • Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to define role within safety program.
  • Manage other safety supervisors on the project.
  • Conduct and document pre‑planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures before subcontractor activity.
  • Conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and project staff to ensure compliance.
  • Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure OSHA/TW Constructors and Federal, State, Local standards compliance.
  • Maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
  • Review each subcontractor’s safety program to ensure it meets or exceeds project requirements.
  • Ensure subcontractor designates a safety representative who is properly trained and authorized to correct safety issues.
  • Conduct daily and weekly jobsite inspections; complete safety checklists noting violations and corrective actions.
  • Record, notify, and prepare written reports of violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction.
  • Stop any violation or unsafe act or practice immediately.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with fire prevention, evacuation, and control procedures.
  • Investigate incidents and generate timely reports.
  • Maintain all required safety records.
  • Conduct monthly safety overview meetings and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
  • Electrical and/or Lift Safety Experience Preferred.
  • General knowledge of construction principles and practices required.
  • 5–10 years of safety experience or a combination of education and multiple years of construction safety experience.
  • Field and on‑site experience is a plus.
  • OSHA 30‑hour construction accreditation required.
  • OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is a plus.
  • Computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and an adaptable, flexible style.
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors is a plus.
