A Commercial Construction Estimator will be responsible for working within the estimation and bidding process while calculating the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. They will use the appropriate computer construction programs necessary to accomplish these tasks. Their duties include communicating with personnel, contractual professionals, and vendors. Estimators will use computer software to weigh production risks, compile reports, and make presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects.

- Effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and co-workers
- Actively contribute to the project schedule and close‑out process
- Work closely with many other professionals including consultants, contractors, accountants, and operations personnel to provide the most accurate and comprehensive financial and budget analysis for their employers
- Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
- Create labor estimates for any project
- Manage bids from vendors and contractors
- Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
- Compile and record actual costs
- Use bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis
- Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors and contractors
- Prepare material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
- Analyze requirement documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
- Projects are nationwide - travel may be required
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field of study
- 3‑5 years of experience in commercial project estimating and/or management
- Design‑Build experience is ideal
- Ability to interpret blueprints
- Significant knowledge of construction methods as well as an understanding of municipalities and the permit processes
- Ability to manage subcontractors and vendors
- Estimating and project management experience in the commercial industrial construction industry
- Knowledge and understanding of building construction combined with steel design concepts presented on architectural and engineering drawings
- Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to prepare proposals with minimum supervision
- Strong understanding of conceptual estimating, estimating techniques and cost control
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications with owners and subcontractors
- Knowledge of on‑screen estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, etc.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
- Procore Certified or knowledge and skill in Procore
