Safety Manager

Summary Description

The Safety Manager provides support to Project Staff and the Concrete Strategies safety team to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. This role is responsible for helping develop and sustain a zero-injury safety culture across assigned projects through consistent field presence, routine inspections, effective onboarding and training, proactive hazard identification, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Safety Manager champions proactive safety practices (near miss/hazard reporting, coaching and recognition of safe behaviors) and serves as a key partner to operations leadership to help ensure every worker goes home safe—every day.

About the Job
  • Support project leadership and the CSI Safety team in implementing safety programs aligned with CSI standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct at least weekly documented jobsite safety inspections and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Deliver new hire/site-specific orientations and confirm participation/documentation requirements are met prior to work.
  • Assist with reviewing subcontractor daily pre-task safety analyses and ensure controls are implemented in the field.
  • Promote and participate in daily stretch and flex and reinforce safe work planning habits.
  • Identify project safety trends and lead/coordinate proactive initiatives to reduce risk and prevent incidents.
  • Serve as a visible safety leader on site—coaching, recognizing safe behaviors, and intervening immediately when unsafe acts/conditions are observed.
  • Report incidents promptly and accurately following established protocols; support investigations and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Support corporate safety goals, communications, and initiatives while maintaining required project safety documentation.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Health or equivalent experience/education combination.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience (or combination of education and multiple years of building construction experience) with a working knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to deliver orientations, training, and safety messaging clearly.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards applicable to commercial construction environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Bilingual (Spanish) and intercultural communication skills preferred.
  • Ability to work in active construction environments and maintain a consistent field presence.
