The Role We Want You ForThe Senior Site Safety Supervisor will provide support to the Project Staff and the Clayco safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to project responsibilities, the supervisor will assist in developing a zero‑injury safety culture on each project, conduct weekly documented job‑site safety inspections, communicate orientations to new workers, review subcontractor pre‑task safety analysis, promote and participate in daily stretch and flex programs, identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives, support corporate goals, emphasize near‑miss/hazard reporting, coach and recognize workers on safe methods, report incidents promptly, and motivate workers to perform jobs safely.
Responsibilities encompass the entire scope of each project.
- Assist in development of the project safety program.
- Establish and conduct job‑site orientation for new project employees; administer and record participation; issue identification to those completing orientation.
- Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to clarify roles within the safety program.
- Conduct and document pre‑planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives to establish procedures before activity on site.
- Field tasks solo on a project up to $80 million.
- Client interfacing.
- Assist Site Safety Manager.
- Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and project staff to ensure compliance.
- Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure standards align with OSHA/Clayco and federal and state requirements.
- Maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
- Review each subcontractor’s safety program to ensure it meets or exceeds project requirements.
- Ensure each subcontractor designates a safety representative properly trained for their scope and authority to correct safety issues.
- Conduct regular daily and weekly job‑site inspections and complete safety checklists recording violations and corrective actions.
- Record, notify, and prepare written reports of any violations or unsafe practices for immediate correction.
- Stop at once any violation or unsafe act or practice.
- Assist Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
- Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
- Maintain all required safety records.
- Conduct a monthly safety overview meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
- 4–7 years of safety experience or a combination of education and years of experience in building construction, with a working knowledge of safety/environment principles and practices.
- 5+ years of field experience minimum.
- OSHA 30‑hour construction accreditation.
- OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is a plus.
- Physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, use construction personnel hoists, climb ladders and navigate construction work areas.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work at heights, climb ladders, access and inspect scaffolding and roof areas.
- Noise level is usually moderate to very loud.
- Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
