Job Summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis is seeking a Construction Manager to join our Disaster Services team. This role is a grant-funded, temporary full-time position responsible for assessing residential property damage resulting from the May 2025 tornado in St. Louis and managing repair and reconstruction projects that restore homes to safe, sanitary, and secure conditions. The position develops scopes of work and project budgets, coordinates bids and permits, oversees contractors and volunteers, monitors project timelines and expenditures, and serves as the primary liaison among homeowners, Disaster Case Managers, contractors, and community partners to ensure projects are completed in compliance with grant requirements, building codes, and program expectations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of basic construction practices, sequencing and equipment and must maintain knowledge of local, state and federal building codes.
  • Work in collaboration with disaster case managers (DCMs) and other coworkers.
  • Needs to provide clear communication throughout the entire process between DCMs, clients, and contractors.
  • Sharing and keeping an up-to-date calendar through Microsoft Outlook that is accessible by disaster staff to follow the progress with each client.
  • Document the progress of each case from construction request to construction assessment, to the collection of 2 to 3 bids, and through completion of the construction work.
  • Meet with Program Director on a weekly basis to review construction requests and assessments
  • Complete and submit to Program Director weekly progress reports for all projects.
  • Participate in Long-Term Recovery Committee meetings with updates on pending projects.
  • Perform home/site visits to assess if damage/deterioration fits within the guidelines of funding grants for repair/replacement purposes.
