Construction Safety Manager

Location: St. Louis, MO

Duration: 1-2 Years (Start: 8/24)

Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $56/hr (Local) | $49/hr (Non-Local)

Overtime: Paid After 40 Hours

Per Diem: $150/Day on seven days

Completion Bonus: $150/month

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM | 10-Hour Days

Approximately 50 Hours Per Week

The Construction Safety Manager will provide hands-on field safety oversight with a primary focus on site housekeeping, excavation activities, pedestrian safety, access routes, and maintaining safe separation between workers, equipment, and active construction operations
.

This position is ideal for a field-focused safety professional who understands that strong fundamentals-including housekeeping, site organization, and pedestrian controls-are critical to preventing incidents on a busy construction site.

Required Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excavation and trenching safety experience
  • Excavation Competent Person experience
  • Heavy civil or site development construction experience
  • Heavy equipment and mobile equipment safety experience
  • Experience developing pedestrian traffic and site access controls
  • CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide daily field safety oversight throughout active construction areas
  • Maintain a highly visible presence alongside craft personnel and project supervision
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, field observations, and hazard assessments
  • Monitor housekeeping and ensure work areas, access routes, and emergency pathways remain clear
  • Provide safety oversight for excavation and trenching activities
  • Monitor pedestrian walkways and employee access throughout the construction site
  • Help maintain proper separation between pedestrians, vehicles, and heavy equipment
  • Monitor excavation barricades, protective systems, access/egress, and spoil placement
  • Identify slip, trip, fall, and struck-by hazards and drive timely corrective actions
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
  • Monitor heavy equipment and mobile equipment operations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
  • Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
  • Partner with project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
