Site Manager, Construction Manager/ Foreman
Our client is a well-established and growing construction business with a strong presence throughout the St. Louis market
. With an expanding pipeline of civil and infrastructure work, they are looking to add experienced Superintendents to their team.
The business is looking for a strong field leader who can take ownership of projects, manage crews and subcontractors, coordinate day-to-day site activities, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Superintendent who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working as part of a close-knit team
, rather than being permanently tied to one type of project.
Superintendents will generally be assigned to a primary project but should be comfortable moving between projects when required. The workload is fluid, meaning someone may move onto another project where their particular experience is needed before returning to their original assignment.
Projects can range from smaller, fast-moving asphalt and concrete work through to large, multi-year, multimillion-dollar civil and infrastructure projects
.
The business is particularly interested in Superintendents who bring strong leadership capabilities and can effectively manage people in the field.
Projects include:
- Civil & Infrastructure - Excavation, site development, concrete, asphalt, erosion control and related civil work
- Heavy Civil / Infrastructure - Large-scale, multi-year infrastructure and bridge projects
- Sitework - Excavation, grading, retention ponds, utilities and associated site development
- Lead and manage field crews, subcontractors, and project resources
- Take ownership of day-to-day project execution and site operations
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, schedules, and subcontractors
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements
- Manage project sequencing, logistics, phasing, and field coordination
- Monitor progress and proactively identify issues that could affect schedule or production
- Work closely with Project Managers and other project leadership to maintain project objectives
- Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Track field activities, timecards, production, and project documentation using company technology
- Ensure crews have the resources and direction required to complete work successfully
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to field personnel
- Move between projects when required based on workload, project needs, and individual expertise
- Represent the company professionally with clients, partners, and project stakeholders
The business is looking for someone who is a proven field leader
, rather than simply someone with many years of operating experience.
Strong candidates will ideally have:
- Proven experience working as a Superintendent or senior field leader
- Strong crew leadership and people-management experience
- Civil, heavy civil, infrastructure, excavation, concrete, asphalt, or related construction experience
- Ability to manage multiple field activities and priorities simultaneously
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, productivity, safety, and quality
- Comfortable coordinating subcontractors and project resources
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using tablets and technology for timekeeping, documentation, and field management
- Ability to work independently while remaining a strong team player
- Willingness to travel within the broader St. Louis / Southern Illinois market
Importantly, the company is looking for someone who wants to lead people and contribute to the wider organization
, not simply someone who wants to show up, run the work, and go home. Culture and personality are a major part of the hiring decision.
The company is based in the St Louis, MO area, with the majority of projects located within approximately 1-1.5 hours of the office
