Are you driven by the challenge of executing seamless live productions? TSV Sound & Vision is seeking a highly experienced Technical Director to lead the planning, execution, and on-site management of large-scale corporate events, ensuring they align with creative and logistical expectations. This is a leadership role for a seasoned professional who has successfully managed complex live event productions, overseen technical teams, and ensured flawless execution under high-pressure conditions
This is not a training position—we are looking for an industry expert who understands the intricacies of live event production and can hit the ground running with minimal onboarding.
This is not a remote work position. This full-time position is based in St Louis,MO, with standard office hours of Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM when not on site for event productions. Due to the nature of live event production, weekend and evening availability is expected, based on the scheduling and demands of events. Travel is required (see below for details).
The Technical Director collaborates closely with the Sales Team, Production Manager, and clients to define the Scope of Work, develop comprehensive budgets, create project timelines, coordinate labor, and manage the selection of equipment and resources. From initial concept development to on-site execution and post-event reconciliation, you will be a key decision-maker in ensuring operational success while delivering an exceptional client experience.

Core Responsibilities- Lead all technical aspects of event production, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and exceed client expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and internal production teams, maintaining clear and proactive communication to provide updates, setting expectations, and addressing project‑related inquiries.
- Develop technical solutions in collaboration with clients, sales representatives, and internal teams.
- Ensure the accuracy of orders and resource allocation in Flex software throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop detailed production plans, including technical drawings, schedules, labor coordination, and logistical plans.
- Coordinate logistics, subcontractors, and labor in collaboration with the Production Manager.
- Manage on‑site crews while supervising technical execution, troubleshooting real‑time issues, and making decisive adjustments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices, mitigating risks on‑site.
- Facilitate project close‑out, aiding with financial reconciliation, post‑show reporting, and both client and internal debriefs.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to production teams, fostering a positive, results‑driven and collaborative environment.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with clients, vendors, and production teams.
- Ability to analyze and interpret contracts, project scopes, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in workflow organization, labor scheduling, and budget management.
- Budget management capabilities for making informed financial decisions.
- Experience leading teams of technical professionals, vendors, and labor crews.
- Familiarity with safety standards, labor requirements, and compliance protocols.
- Proven track record managing corporate event productions with budgets exceeding $300K.
