Job Description

Summary: Responsible for set-up, operation and teardown of technical theater equipment, such as lighting, sound, video, and rigging equipment, for a variety of events produced by various district groups and community organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set-up, operate and teardown theatrical lighting, video, sound, and/or rigging equipment
  • Interact and communicate effectively with Auditorium Site‑Supervisors and other parties as needed.
  • Maintain safe conditions by following all safety procedures
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and orderly environment
  • Assist with routine safety, cleaning and maintenance of the control rooms, performance venues and theatrical equipment
  • Report all broken equipment and unsafe situations
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and meetings
  • Assist with training of other Auditorium Technicians as needed
  • Provide an annual technical inventory of all equipment with recommendations for replacement, or refurbishment as needed
  • Assist with event load‑ins and load‑outs
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 50 feet or more from ground level
  • Perform additional auditorium or event duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Knowledge of use and operation of sound reinforcement, lighting, rigging systems, set design and movements, and audiovisual equipment required, or ability to learn.
  • Skill in routine maintenance and minor repair of audiovisual and technical equipment preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office software and Google applications.
  • Knowledge and experience with carpentry tools
  • Ability to regularly stand, sit, talk, hear, walk, and reach
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff team members, community groups, adults and students of all ages
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, especially evenings and weekends
  • Ability to bend, twist, lift and manipulate equipment and supplies
  • Ability to push or lift at least 20 lbs
  • Comfortable working on 10’ ladders and on Catwalks
