Position

Summary

Part‑time AV Technician supporting the Chaifetz Arena in‑house production crew across a wide variety of arena events – NCAA Division I basketball games, concerts, touring shows, private events, and other special productions. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, and breaking down audio and video equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, maintaining equipment, inventory, and ensuring a high‑quality event execution. Flexibility is essential; shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This role pays an hourly rate of $30.00.

This position will remain open until March 13, 2026. About The Venue

Chaifetz Arena is a 10,600‑seat venue on the campus of Saint Louis University, privately managed by Oak View Group. Since opening in 2008, it has served as the home venue for the Saint Louis Billikens men's and women's basketball teams and has hosted a diverse range of concerts, family shows, national sporting events, and more. Audiences have seen performances from Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Sabrina Carpenter, Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson, Cirque du Soleil, Martin Lawrence, Brad Paisley, Disney On Ice, and many other acclaimed acts.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with event‑day setup and teardown of AV equipment, including cameras, tripods, microphones, etc.
  • Serve as an operator for various positions on the in‑house production crew (Ross XPression, New Tek 3

    Play, Daktronics Show Control, Technical Director, Camera Operator, Camera Shading, Utility).
  • Set up, operate, and break down audio and video equipment before, during, and after events.
  • Operate cameras, playback systems, microphones, switchers, and other A/V gear as assigned.
  • Support the execution of in‑game and live‑event productions by following cues and direction from production staff.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during live events.
  • Maintain a professional focus on presentation quality and guest experience.
  • Perform routine upkeep, cleaning, and basic maintenance of A/V equipment.
  • Track, store, and organize production equipment and inventory.
  • Assist with cable management, equipment transport, and safe handling of all technology.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, production staff, and event personnel to ensure smooth event operations.
  • Follow all venue safety procedures and support the safe setup and use of equipment.
Qualifications
  • Prior AV experience working in a live production setting is essential.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Basic knowledge of audio and video systems, including cameras, microphones, switchers, and playback devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common technical issues under time‑sensitive conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on presentation quality and guest experience.
  • Ability to follow cues, directions, and production schedules accurately.
  • Comfortable working in fast‑paced, high‑pressure, live‑event environments.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment (typically 25–50 lbs) and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
  • Familiarity with signal flow, basic wiring, and cable management (preferred).
