We are a privately owned and growing chemical manufacturing company seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Account Representative I to join our team. This position serves as the primary coordinator between customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely order fulfillment. The Account Representative I manages purchase orders for commodity and specialty chemicals from receipt through delivery while providing exceptional customer service and logistics support.

- Manage customer orders from receipt through delivery, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Enter and maintain order data within company systems while preparing and providing required customer documentation.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal departments to ensure successful order fulfillment.
- Manage a high volume of emails and communications, prioritizing tasks and responding promptly to customer needs.
- Monitor and manage backorders, proactively communicating delays and coordinating solutions with multiple departments.
- Serve as a logistics coordinator by arranging shipments, obtaining freight quotes, scheduling carriers, and resolving transportation issues.
- Assist with onboarding new customer accounts and maintaining customer databases.
- Support the Sales Team with freight quotes, inventory checks, pricing updates, product information, and administrative requests.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of chemical products, industry terminology, vendor requirements, and transportation processes.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support after-hours customer and carrier needs.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service and data entry.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Associate or bachelor's degree.
- Experience in chemical distribution, logistics, or supply chain industries.
- Experience with Order Management Systems such as Datacor/Oracle/JD Edwards or SAP.
- Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
