Garcia Construction is a design-build company that offers general contracting and full architectural services. As an Architectural Designer, you will have creative and technical responsibilities on a variety of projects including residential, light commercial, adaptive reuse, hospitality and multi-family. Our projects vary in size and range from decks, garages, interior remodels to gut renovations, additions, and new construction.
You’ll work closely with our team from the first napkin sketch through construction administration. This role requires a strong background in residential design, understanding of building technology, advanced proficiency in AutoCAD software, and excellent communication skills.

- Work closely with our design team to create detailed drawings sets for all aspects of a project, from schematic layouts to construction documents.
- Conduct research and correspondence with various municipalities for permitting, zoning, historic and other requirements.
- Attend client meetings in-office and on the job site including homeowners, developers, business owners, and Garcia owners.
- Coordinate in-office and on the job site with general contractors, field carpenters, consultants, and other project decision makers throughout the design and construction phases.
- Assist with construction administration including creating submittals, site visits, and ensuring design intent is maintained.
- Assist in specifying materials including windows, doors, cabinetry, fixtures, and finishes
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure timely communication with all stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, or related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with permitting processes and building codes
- Experience with residential, light commercial, and tenant buildout projects
- Advanced experience with AutoCAD, and ability to use a computer for extended periods
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and colleagues via phone, email, or in person
- Ability to safely navigate active and unfinished construction sites, including areas not yet compliant with ADA accessibility standards
