ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL DESIGNER

In this role, you will develop and manage a select group of styles from concept to production while assisting the more senior Technical Designers. You will be accountable for daily tasks including but not limited to participating (with opportunity to lead) in fittings, managing technical packages, and communicating with overseas vendors while ensuring your styles are tracking toward timely fit approvals.

Requirements

A person who joins our team must be three things: humble, hungry, smart. We stole that from a book written by a guy much smarter than us. In addition, to the HHS requirements for all teammates, for this role, here are some other things we are looking for:

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Ownership of designated styles starting from initial pass‑off through production using Creative Suite, PLM and Excel programs
  • Participate in handovers between Technical Designers, Design, and Product Development on designated new styles
  • Create and maintain Technical Packages for specified styles regarding fit and construction
  • Evaluate newly received samples against previously made comments, check measurements, and identify fit/construction/fabrication. Review factory patterns for shape and balance
  • Take notes in daily cross‑functional fittings providing garment history and assisting Technical Designers, with opportunities for independent fitting as experience allows
  • Keen interest and knowledge of industry technical trends and ability to distinguish "brand‑right" recommendations
  • Communicate with domestic and overseas factories. Timely respond to all inquiries and requests via e‑mail or through verbal communication
  • Assist with maintaining size & fit consistency throughout all styles per Normal Brand Standards
  • Contribute to record keeping, sample organization, and sample processes
  • Update technical sketches in Illustrator as support is needed
  • Have a positive, solution‑oriented attitude
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in an Assistant Technical Design role
  • Proficient knowledge of points of measure, garment construction, fit, pattern making, and grading
  • Experience working with a variety of fabric types, finishes, content, and knowledge of how they affect fit
  • A motivated, self‑starter mentality eager to work within an open‑office environment and collaborate with multiple departments of the company
  • Must be positive, a critical thinker, a team player, very detail and solution oriented, and a fast learner
  • Meticulous organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to multitask, including multiple seasonal overlap and deadlines
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM)
Benefits

Above all, we offer the chance for growth. We are a young company started in a basement 9 years ago, and we have a lot to prove. We want to add people to the team who want to be a part of this family and grow within it for life. In addition to that, we also offer:

  • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance available
  • 401K
  • Employee Discounts
