Historic architectural woodworking company is seeking an experienced Estimator to work in our Estimating / Sales Department. This position is critical to our pre-construction process, involving take-offs, material pricing, labor cost estimation, and proposal preparation for custom millwork and architectural woodwork projects. Experience working with Bluebeam a plus.
Our company focuses on designing, drafting and building custom architectural woodwork and cabinetry using AutoCAD and Microvellum. We have been proudly serving the Midwest for over 130 years and our work can be found in many of the historic and celebrated buildings in the region. Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate cost estimates
- Prepare detailed take-offs of millwork components and materials
- Solicit and analyze vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Prepare and submit timely and competitive bid proposals
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project scopes and resolve discrepancies
- Track bid results and maintain estimating database for historical cost analysis
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in estimating for architectural millwork, custom woodworking, construction or manufacturing
- Strong understanding of woodworking methods, materials, and construction documents
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Plan Swift, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings and shop drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in construction management, architecture, or related field
- Familiarity with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) standards
- Experience in either commercial or high-end residential millwork projects
