JOB SUMMARY

The substitute teacher is responsible for classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students in accordance with school policies.

* Implements lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.

* Organizes students for effective instruction.

* Collects and places students papers in regular teachers desk.

* Complies with and supports school regulations and policies.

* Performs other related duties as assigned by the department chair or division director.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors degree or relevant work experience that includes working on a degree in a School of Education

* Minimum of a year of classroom experience

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Must enjoy working with children

OTHER INFORMATION

* A criminal history and background check is required and must be successfully completed.

* May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.

* Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled office environment.

* Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
