Position Summary:

Responsible for working with the Principal and Assistant Principals in implementing building based activities and responsibilities as needed. This position will also assume a leadership role in organizing appropriate orientation and in-service training of coaching personnel. Skills in communication, interpersonal relationships, organization, problem solving, nurturing and inclusive leadership are essential.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience

* Master's Degree (administrative experience preferred)

* Valid teaching or administrator certificate from State of Missouri -(Admin preferred)

* Classroom experience (minimum 3 years)

* Preferred experience in athletics, activities, and/or physical education programs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Facilitates the selecting, assigning and evaluating of all athletics / activities personnel

* Represents the School District in matters of interscholastic athletics with MSHSAA

* Assumes leadership role in the orientation and in-service training of coaching personnel.

* Develops and maintains positive relationships with families and community

* Works with building principal to develop and implement athletic/activities budget

* Reviews and regularly evaluates appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.

* Coordinates use of facilities and maintenance of facilities and equipment

* Assists in interviewing and recommending coaching personnel to fill needed vacancies.

* Provides supervision of events, activities and contests as needed

* Provides team lists and verifies eligibility. Ensure rosters are compliant with MSHSAA

* Inspects and observes activities on District property and during school activities, as possible, for correct safety procedures and to correct any unsafe practices and conditions immediately if injury is imminent and to report all other potential safety hazards to supervisors.

* Works with teachers and other support personnel to develop and maintain a program of safe conditions and procedures to provide for the welfare of the students, faculty and support personnel and to avoid costly litigation which may result from unsafe conditions and practices.

* Coordinates the athletic program with all other co-curricular activities and extra curricular activities. Schedule all extra curricular events and keep a master calendar for all extra curricular activities in the building.

* This department arranges for transportation for away contests and other travel

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Coaches, activities sponsors, volunteers, and related personnel in the department.
