Requires valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Gifted Education
Position Summary:
To create an educational program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with students; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a quality education, in accordance with each student's ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
* Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
* Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
* Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
* Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
* Learns and implements strategies to instruct students in higher level of learning.
* Uses technologies to enhance instruction.
* Must be able to effectively organize and prioritize work.
* Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
* Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
* Identifies student needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans.
* Must be able to give and follow written and oral instructions.
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
