Summary: The Onsite Educator is responsible for providing engaging, hands‑on, and standards‑aligned instruction to students from PK‑12 at the Farmers Club site. This role focuses on translating the farm’s physical environment into a "living classroom." The Educator designs the instructional schedule, develops curriculum, and facilitates large‑group learning experiences, ensuring every student has meaningful, age‑appropriate exposure to agricultural and environmental sciences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curriculum & Instruction: Develop and implement on‑site instruction for elementary and secondary students (PK‑12) covering ecology, environmental science, nutrition, botany, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
- Student Supervision: Facilitate learning for large groups (100+) and manage student‑led projects, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
- Logistics & Scheduling: Collaborate with building leaders to design instructional schedules, reserve transportation, and manage the instructional budget/supplies.
- Strategic Planning: Work with the teaching and learning team to ensure students receive multiple, progressive experiences per year that align with district standards.
- Professional Learning: Organize and lead professional learning to prepare classroom teachers to lead on‑ and off‑site learning experiences.
- Community Engagement: Recruit and engage volunteers and pursue grants to expand educational programming. Participate in local agriculture networking groups, such as the St. Louis Agribusiness Club.
Experience &
Qualifications:
- Required: Certified Teacher; ability to adapt complex concepts for various age groups, kindergarten through 12th grade.
- Preferred: Experience in Project‑Based Learning (PBL).
