The Early Education department

To provide developmentally appropriate engaging learning experiences for young children.
Minimum Qualifications- Must have a valid teaching certificate in early childhood education.
- Must have experience working with young children.
- Early Childhood special education teaching certification preferred.
- Experience administering, scoring and interpreting screening tests preferred.
- Provide developmentally appropriate engaging classroom experiences for 3- and/or 4-year-olds.
- Plan, supervise and implement a learning environment emphasizing the child's opportunities for learning.
- Develop a learning environment stressing literacy, social skills, discovery and problem- solving.
- Support learning experiences that emphasize representation through language, art, music and motor activities.
- Develop curriculum materials based on Missouri Early Learning Standards.
- Meet District's policy requirements for student contact hours.
- Implement pre- and post-tests as required.
- Study test information in preparation for individualizing work with children.
- Explain to parents the child's strengths and weaknesses periodically throughout the year.
- Maintain developmental checklist on all children.
- Help implement IEPs.
- Maintain close supportive relationships with parents.
- Support other members of the team.
- Contribute ideas to team planning and discussion with staff.
- Maintain contact with kindergarten teachers and principal.
- Promote the development of social skills in young children.
- Participate in professional development.
- Demonstrate high standards of appearance, ethics and behavior serving as a positive model for students and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
