St. Gerard Majella School is seeking a joyful, faith‑filled Catholic educator who feels called to serve our vibrant school community as a 1st Grade Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. We are looking for an individual who brings both strong instructional skill and a genuine passion for forming young learners in mind, heart, and spirit.
Position OverviewThe 1st Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a warm, structured, and engaging classroom environment where students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively teach core subjects while integrating Catholic values into daily instruction.
Responsibilities- Teaching and planning lessons for Religion, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Social‑Emotional Learning
- Creating a supportive, developmentally‑appropriate classroom culture
- Using a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Assessing student progress and communicating with parents regularly
- Collaborating with fellow teachers and staff to support the school mission
- Modeling and cultivating a strong Catholic identity in the classroom
- Participating in school activities, faith experiences, and professional development
- Practicing Catholic who embraces and supports the mission of Catholic education
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom‑management skills
- Commitment to fostering both academic and spiritual growth in young learners
