Faculty Academic Coach for Success BSN Program

Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU) - School of Nursing is seeking a Faculty Academic Coach for Success (FACS) beginning in July 2026. The role of the FACS is to coordinate and implement activities that are designed to improve student retention, persistence, successful completion of program learning outcomes, and NCLEX‑RN first time past rates.
ResponsibilitiesThe FACS works collaboratively with students and faculty to identify academic barriers, develop actionable success plans, and monitor student progress. The FACS must maintain an on‑campus presence for student support and engagement. A flexible work‑life balance is an important part of the culture at the School of Nursing. The ability to work remotely is negotiated with the Dean of nursing on an individual basis.
Annual teaching requirement is negotiated with the Dean of Nursing.
Job Functions- Help students with goal setting, time‑management skills, test‑taking strategies, and other general advising.
- Develops actionable success and remediation plans tailored to each student's unique needs.
- Coordinates academic and non‑academic student referrals to appropriate support services (Peer Tutoring, Faculty Mentor, library or writing resources, counseling, wellness center, etc.).
- Monitors students' progress toward goals and conducts follow‑up assessments; maintains documentation of student interactions.
- Effectively communicates updates with stakeholders (student, faculty, advisor, SAC, program administrator).
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the success and remediation plans, uses student data to inform any modifications, and communicates with students, faculty, and program administrator.
- Participates in mid‑term and end‑of‑term program alignment meetings.
Required:
- A graduate degree in nursing.
- Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in Missouri (a compact state).
- Three or more years of experience as a registered professional nurse.
- Evidence of previous teaching experience.
- Effective interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
- CPR certification.
Preferred:
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field.

The employee must occasionally lift objects weighing from 10 – 30 pounds and possibly up to 50 pounds. Close vision needed to use computer. Must have distance vision and depth perception for safety purposes.
