Develop students' skills and competence in biology; develop students' skills and abilities in scientific methods and problem-solving, as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical problems. Candidates must be certified to teach Biology and a willingness to teach AP Biology is preferred.

• Teaches knowledge and skills in the field of biology, using the curriculum adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
• This position will have an emphasis on Biology and AP Biology.
• Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday life, including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities.
• Maximizes assessment strategies to promote student learning and growth in all aspects of the curriculum especially in the area of critical thinking.
• Instructs students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment, chemicals, and plant and animal life.
• Teachers are expected to become familiar with Board of Education policies, rules, and regulations and the districts course of study so that they may be able to carry these into effective operation.

Collaborates with appropriate stakeholder groups within the school and community.

• Missouri Teacher Certification in Biology (9-12).
• Preference provided to candidates with unified science certification and/or multiple science certification areas.

Preference provided to candidates with AP Biology training and experience.

Salary will be determined based on verified education and years of experience. Salary for this position is in accordance with the 2026-27 Teacher Salary Schedule. This is a full-time contracted teaching position with benefits.
