Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Physical Education (PE) Teacher who is passionate about health, fitness, and student well-being. This role involves designing and implementing a comprehensive physical education program that fosters students' physical, social, and emotional growth while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits. The ideal candidate will create engaging and inclusive movement-based lessons that emphasize skill development, collaboration, and personal goal-setting.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Student Engagement
- Develop and implement dynamic, age-appropriate physical education lessons aligned with state and national standards.
- Create engaging, movement-based activities that promote fitness, motor skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Incorporate inclusive practices to ensure all students can participate and feel successful, regardless of ability level.
- Teach students about healthy habits, personal fitness, and overall wellness in a way that connects to their daily lives.
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to take risks and challenge themselves physically.
- Model and teach cooperation, perseverance, and respect through individual and team-based activities.
- Support students in developing confidence and self-discipline in physical activities and structured play.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate movement and wellness into the broader school culture.
- Encourage students to reflect on their physical and social-emotional growth through goal-setting and progress tracking.
- Partner with families to support students' academic and social-emotional growth.
- Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
- Actively contribute to a positive school culture by supporting:
- Morning arrival & dismissal
- Lunch & recess duty
- Student assemblies & community circles
- Classroom transitions & behavior expectations
- Maintain a safe and organized gym or activity space, ensuring proper use and care of all equipment.
- Establish and enforce clear safety protocols and behavioral expectations for students during physical activities.
- Participate in professional development to stay current on best practices in physical education and child development.
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives and community events that promote health and wellness.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support student success.
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, or a related field; teacher certification preferred.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students.
- Strong classroom management skills and commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging learning environment.
- Passion for promoting lifelong health, fitness, and student well-being.
- Ability to create culturally responsive lessons that support collaboration, movement, and student confidence.
- Strong communication, organization, and lesson-planning skills.
