The Education Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, scheduling, and facilitating science education programs, stewarding relationships with educational partners, and managing program equipment and resources. This position requires a passion for STEM education, strong communication skills, experience in program delivery, and strong organizational skills.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Design and deliver STEM education programs for diverse audiences, incorporating hands-on learning experiences and educational best practices.
- Support the Youth Programs Manager/Science Fair Director in Science Fair and Junior Academy program development and delivery.
- Plan and coordinate educational events, workshops, programs, and ensuring a safe and educational experience for participants. Programs include:
- Junior Academy of Science
- STL Science Fair
- Science Speaker Series
- Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with existing community partners, ensuring ongoing engagement and support.
- Coordinate field trip experiences for the STL Science Fair.
- Assist with the development and implementation of program evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness and impact of educational initiatives.
- Assist with developing educational resources – including lesson plans, interpretive materials, and interactive learning tools – to support education programs.
- Manage the inventory, maintenance, and organization of program equipment.
- Coordinate program and event volunteers as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in education or a related field.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Passion for STEM Education and knowledge of education best practices.
- Basic knowledge of Google office suite.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook & Office suite.
- Familiarity with Canva.
- Scheduling flexibility that occasionally allows working weekends and evenings.
- Ability to pass Family Safety Care Registry background check.
- Commitment to equitable practices in education.
- Hybrid work environment with frequent periods of time working in the community to support education programs.
- Periodic travel to conferences may be required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
