Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School seeks a full‑time Black Studies / African American History Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will possess deep content knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for empowering scholars through rigorous, culturally grounded instruction. Candidates should understand the centrality of the African American experience within U.S. and global history and be committed to developing critical thinkers prepared for college, leadership, and service.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to teach in an urban, college‑preparatory environment, possess a strong academic background, and hold a Missouri State Teaching License (Master’s degree preferred). SLU 1818, UMSL Dual Credit, or AP credentials for teaching college‑credit courses are preferred but not required.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in History, African American Studies, Social Studies, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Missouri State Teaching Certification (preferred)
- Strong background in African American history and historiography
- Experience teaching in a college‑preparatory and/or urban educational environment (preferred)
- Ability to design curriculum aligned with college‑readiness standards
Articulate and uphold the policies, procedures, mission, and vision of the St. Louis Archdiocese and Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School. Properly plan and deliver quality instruction using the Gradual Release Model; develop assessments to support higher‑order thinking; integrate instructional technology; and implement project‑based learning. Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and utilize the school’s online student data system and Google applications.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the vocation of teaching, a belief in the brilliance and potential of Black scholars, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and administration.
CompensationSalary based on degree level and years of experience (somewhat negotiable); includes a comprehensive benefits package.
