Position: Clayton Kid Zone Assistant Site Leaders, Full Time, District Wide

Assistant Site Leader

The School District of Clayton is seeking a full-time Assistant Site Leader for the before and after school program (Clayton Kid Zone) for the  school year. The ideal candidates will be responsible for assisting the Site Leader with effective program management, along with program and curriculum planning for the individual site. Takes the lead position when the Site Leader or Program Coordinator is not present.

This is a ten-month position. Scheduled hours for this position are 6:45-8:30 am and 3:00-6:00 pm (shifts may vary), plus additional hours for planning time, full-day programs, early release days, professional development, and meetings.

Successful candidates will:

  • Assist the Site Leader in supervising a before/after school program at one of the district's elementary schools.
  • Organize and use a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
  • Guide and direct Site Assistants in carrying out their responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and school staff and personnel.
  • Guide Site Assistants in disciplinary matters and other interactions with children and/or parents.
  • Assist Site Leader with supervising Site Assistants.
  • Care for medical and other emergencies.
  • Design and maintain an attractive, orderly, and safe environment that is conducive to student learning.
  • Assist with implementing weekly program activities and incident/accident reports.
  • Keep Site Leader updated daily on activities and incidents.
  • Keep Site Leader informed of the performance level of each employee in the Site Leader's absence.
  • Complete the required administrative tasks such as attendance/enrollment procedures, and any other tasks necessary for the program.
  • Assist Site Leader/Program Coordinator in staff development and in the planning and conduction of staff meetings.
  • Participate in trainings, conferences, and workshops for professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records with Site Leader approval:
    • Student:
      Sign-in/out
    • Accident Procedure Forms – Fill out on students when necessary.
    • Incident Reports – Document incidents; include children's names, date and staff signature.
    • Familiar with staff and parent handbooks.
    • Model appropriate dynamics and student interactions. Use direct intervention as is necessary and appropriate.
    • Maintain appropriate staff/student ratios.
    • Notify Site Leader of needed supplies and snacks.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Site Leader and/or Program Coordinator.

Education:

A bachelor's degree in education or child development is preferred.

Experience:

Prior teaching experience or experience in a comparable program is preferred.

Compensation:
District provides its staff with highly-competitive salary. Salary Schedule

FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt

Work Calendar: 192 day calendar.
