WashU's Division of Student Affairs seeks an experienced disability resource professional for the position of Assistant Director, Disability Resources. The Assistant Director (AD) for Disability Resources is an essential member of Disability Resources as they support the Director by overseeing the day‑to‑day operations within the Department on the Danforth Campus. In the absence of the Director, the AD serves as the primary spokesperson/liaison for Disability Resources.

A critical element of this role is serving as DR’s liaison with WashU’s School of Law. In the position, the Assistant Director assists students through an interactive process, evaluates third‑party documentation and other information provided by the student, to determine necessary accommodations to support their access in curricular and co‑curricular activities and environments. They will promote accessibility awareness and Universal Design through networking, training, and collaboration with others in the campus community to foster a meaningfully inclusive campus environment for disabled students, and is responsible for providing technical expertise and support necessary to facilitate equitably accessible and inclusive University programs and services.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support Director by overseeing the day‑to‑day operations within the Department on the Danforth Campus and assist in general administration of Disability Resources, including, but not limited to: budget and programmatic management; policy and procedure development, and assessment/research activities.
  • Provides direct supervision of DR Coordinators who engage with students seeking accommodations, and act as expert‑level resources for the University Community (Faculty, Staff, etc.).
  • Participate in the training needs of Disability Resources staff, including professional and administrative employees, student staff, and any graduate assistants/intern/practicum students.
  • Engage with students in an interactive process for determining disability‑related accommodations and resources for establishing inclusive opportunities at WashU and assist Department in evaluating documentation (informal as well as professional 3rd‑party) to determine appropriateness of accommodations and recommendations.
  • Inform, instruct, and support WashU faculty, staff, and administration in their provision of, and responsibility to provide, equitable access for disabled students and promote inclusive campus planning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
