Position Summary:The Secondary Coordinator
- Alternative Site Lead Teacher performs the duties required to support teachers, counselors, and administrators through the development of a positive school culture and student support systems. This role bridges classroom instruction and student services, providing leadership in behavior, engagement, and teacher support.
- Support and model effective classroom management and instructional practices
- Assist teachers with behavior strategies, interventions, and student engagement
- Oversee student discipline processes, including documentation and follow-up
- Implement and monitor behavior intervention and restorative practices
- Facilitate student mediations and conflict resolution
- Communicate with families regarding behavior and attendance concerns
- Collaborate with staff, counselors, and administration to support student success
- Participate in enrollment and transition meetings to support student intake and reintegration
- Conduct school visits and collaborate with sending schools to support transitions
- Support daily operations, including supervision and substitute coordination; serve as a substitute when necessary
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with external entities
- Provide leadership support and serve as administrator’s designee when administrator is out of the building
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problem, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to effectively lead work and interact with others
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to be well organized and detail oriented
- Ability to manage individual student program participation and behavior
- A minimum of three years of certified teaching experience (required)
- A minimum of two years alternative education setting (required)
- Bachelor’s Degree (required)
- Missouri Teaching Certification (required)
- Master’s Degree (preferred)
- Missouri Administrator Certification (preferred)
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
- Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
- Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree
- Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
- Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
