Location: St. Louis

The Student Success Coordinator supports university-wide efforts to promote student success, engagement, persistence, retention, and degree completion. Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs, this position serves as a key resource for students navigating academic, personal, financial, and institutional challenges and connects students with appropriate university resources.

The coordinator collaborates with Student Affairs, academic programs, faculty, Financial Aid, Registrar, Counseling and Wellness, and other departments to identify student needs, coordinate referrals, conduct proactive outreach, and follow up with students. The position also supports tutoring, student organizations, orientation, events, and other initiatives designed to strengthen the student experience.

This position supports on-campus, remote, and online students and has no direct reports.

Essential Functions Student Success & Retention
  • Serve as a primary Student Affairs resource for students seeking assistance with university services, processes, and support resources.
  • Conduct proactive outreach and follow-up with students who may be experiencing academic, personal, financial, or other barriers to success.
  • Connect students with appropriate university resources and monitor referrals to support successful engagement with services.
  • Assist with early-alert, intervention, persistence, and retention initiatives in collaboration with faculty, academic leadership, and Student Affairs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of outreach, referrals, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Monitor student success indicators and identify trends, barriers, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and assessing student success and retention programs.
Academic & Tutoring Support
  • Coordinate the day-to-day administration of peer tutoring and other academic support initiatives.
  • Assist students with accessing tutoring and academic resources.
  • Maintain tutoring records, assignments, participation, and follow-up.
  • Communicate with students, tutors, faculty, and academic programs regarding academic support needs.
  • Monitor utilization and provide routine reports and recommendations to the Director of Student Affairs.
Student Engagement & Programming
  • Support student organizations, student government, interest groups, and student leadership initiatives.
  • Assist with orientation, workshops, events, leadership programs, career-related programming, and other Student Affairs activities.
  • Support event logistics, communication, registration, attendance tracking, and assessment.
  • Promote opportunities that encourage student belonging, leadership, professional development, and campus engagement.
  • Provide timely and accurate information regarding student resources, programs, deadlines, and university services.
  • Maintain and update Student Affairs and student support information within Canvas and other designated platforms.
  • Develop student-facing communications and serve as a liaison between students and university departments when additional coordination is needed.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data related to student engagement, tutoring, referrals, retention, and Student Affairs programming.
  • Prepare reports and summaries for the Director of Student Affairs and support assessment and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Identify recurring student concerns and institutional barriers and communicate recommendations to appropriate university leaders.
  • Collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, university leadership, and community partners.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with university policies, procedures, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Participate in committees and perform other Student Affairs duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Psychology, Social Services, Business, Human Services, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Education Leadership, Psychology, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
Experience
  • Two to three years of relevant professional experience in student affairs, student success, higher education, academic support, advising, retention, student engagement, case management, or a related area preferred.
  • Experience working directly with college or graduate/professional students preferred.
  • Experience with student outreach, referrals, early alert systems, tutoring, academic support, or retention initiatives preferred.
  • Experience supporting student organizations, orientation, events, or student engagement programming preferred.
  • Strong student-centered approach and commitment to student success and well-being.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong active listening, relationship-building, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
