Role SummaryAs an Elementary Librarian, you will manage the school’s media center and provide instructional leadership in information literacy. You will curate a diverse, inclusive collection that reflects our community and supports the curriculum. Working collaboratively with classroom teachers, you will integrate research skills and technology into the student experience, ensuring the library remains the intellectual heart of the building.
Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)- Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Library Media Specialist Certification (K-12).
- Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required;
Master’s in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) preferred. - Information Architect: You are skilled at managing collections, digital databases, and instructional technology.
- Equity Champion: You are committed to Windows and Mirrors —ensuring our collection provides students a view of the world and a reflection of themselves.
- STEAM-Ready: You are excited to host makerspaces, coding clubs, or digital storytelling within the library framework.
- Cultivate Literacy: Foster a deep-rooted love of reading through engaging book talks, read-alouds, and personalized recommendations.
- Lead Innovation: Teach students how to navigate the digital world safely, critically, and creatively.
- Collaborate: Partner with Grade-Level PLCs to provide resources that align with classroom inquiry and STEAM initiatives.
- Manage & Curate: Maintain an organized, modern, and inviting physical and digital library space that meets the needs of 21st-century learners.
- Empower Discovery: Utilize district assets like the Challenger Learning Center and Little Creek to connect library research to real-world exploration.
- Primary Support: Building Principal
- Instructional Support: District Literacy Coordinators and Technology Integration Specialists
- Classification: Exempt, Certified Staff
- Work Year: 10-Month Academic Calendar, 187 Contract Days
- Salary: Based on the Teacher Salary Schedule, determined by experience and education.
