Teacher Assistant

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young children? Do you enjoy helping children learn through play? Clayton Early Childhood Center, located in Oak Knoll Park, is looking for fun and engaging teacher assistants to join our excellent team of educators.

We are seeking an individual to support our classrooms working four, 10-hour days (Tuesday-Friday, 7:30am-6pm). This is an extremely unique position, providing support between three classrooms when their 10-hour educators have their days off. CECC's program puts a heavy focus on building positive relationships with students and families, establishing the building blocks of learning, and providing ample opportunity to discovery. These three classrooms are a toddler room, a 1-2's classroom, and a 4-5's classroom.

Teacher Assistants collaborate with Lead Teachers to implement developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs. They are an intricate part of the classroom, ensuring children are safe and receiving high-quality early childhood services.

Clayton Early Childhood Center is located in an old home in Oak Knoll Park.

• Engage in active supervision to ensure the safety of all children
• Care for each child’s needs
• Support the implementation of the Creative Curriculum through developmentally appropriate activities by engaging children in learning
• Change diapers, encourage self-help, and model appropriate behaviors
• Assist in maintaining room cleanliness and organization
• Able to support all age groups as needed

• Works well with others, good communication, both oral and written
• Basic computer/technology skills
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, use stairs, and get up and down from the floor frequently
• Must pass background check, fingerprinting, and child abuse and neglect registry
• Obtain physical and TB test

• Knowledge and experience working with young children in a childcare setting
• Certification in Infant/Child CPR and First Aid
• CDA in Infant, Toddler or Preschool, Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
