Position: 7FA Gas Turbine Rotor Repair Engineer

Description

MD&A is seeking a shop-facing 7FA Gas Turbine Rotor Repair Engineer to support and drive rotor repair engineering from intake through final release. This role converts inspection findings into a controlled repair scope and drives clean execution through clear work instructions, inspection plans, and real-time technical support to Operations. Level is determined by experience and demonstrated ownership of repair methodology decisions (L2) versus execution with guided methodology application (L1).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or support rotor repair engineering scope from intake through final technical release, including evaluation, repair planning, routing, execution support, and closure documentation.
  • Translate dimensional, NDE, and inspection results into repair scopes, acceptance criteria, and hold points.
  • Select, apply, and refine repair methodologies based on damage mechanism, risk, schedule, and customer requirements (L2 owns final decisions).
  • Create, revise, and maintain job documentation including work instructions, routings, inspection plans, measurement requirements, and technical reports.
  • Provide real-time technical support on the shop floor; partner with Operations, Machining, Welding, and NDE to remove blockers and keep work moving.
  • Support NCR/MRB dispositions and structured problem-solving, including RCA/CAPA as needed to prevent repeat issues.
  • Participate in customer technical reviews and pre-job meetings; provide onsite/field support when required.
  • Drive lessons learned and standard work to reduce cycle time, rework, and variation.
  • Assist in tooling and process planning, shop growth initiatives, and technician mentorship as required by company goals.
Requirements
  • (L1/L2) B.S. Mechanical Engineering (or related) or equivalent technical experience.
  • (L1) 3+ years in 7FA turbine repair, rotating equipment repair, manufacturing engineering, or shop-facing mechanical engineering.
  • (L2) 5+ years in 7FA turbine/rotor repair engineering or rotating equipment repair with shop execution support.
  • (L1/L2) Ability to read drawings/prints, work with measurement data, and interpret inspection/NDE outputs.
  • (L1/L2) Comfortable being on the shop floor, partnering with Operations/Machining/Welding/NDE, and driving technical items to closure.
  • (L2) Proven ownership of repair methodology decisions and job documentation through final release (not analysis-only).
Benefits
  • Health coverage: Medical, Dental, Vision (with employer contribution)
  • Savings options: HSA/FSA programs available
  • Protection: Company-paid life insurance + disability coverage
  • Time off: Paid time off + paid holidays

  • Support: Employee Assistance Program (EAP) +  protection
  • Wellness & safety perks: On-site ART (Active Release Techniques) sessions; annual PPE reimbursement for prescription safety glasses and steel-toed boots
  • Pay add-ons (as applicable): Overtime opportunity, shift/lead differential, travel pay
  • Advancement: Growth paths and internal advancement opportunities for eligible employees, based on performance and business need
  • Recognition: Seasonal company sponsored events for employees to recognize their contributions to the success of MD&A
  • Industry stability: Essential power generation work with long-term demand
