Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Substation Project Manager for a top power and energy consulting client. As part of a well‑established Power Delivery practice, this candidate will have the opportunity to manage substation projects in Missouri, Kansas and beyond.
This person will work closely with the Substation Engineering Manager to ensure project execution and delivery. While the EM focuses on technical delivery, the PM is responsible for the client communication aspect of the work.
Responsibilities- Managing and leading substation projects throughout the entire project life cycle, including scope and/or proposal development, project team development and assignment, project execution, project closeout, quality control, schedule, and budget management.
- Producing and coordinating several small to medium projects concurrently.
- Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative staff.
- Leading the QA/QC process on projects per the Quality Management Systems requirements with a commitment to delivering world‑class quality.
- At times, overseeing non‑engineering components of projects, including public involvement, environmental permitting, right‑of‑way acquisition, construction management, and other services.
- Leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world‑class services.
- Performing client management, project management, and/or technical support activities.
- At times, supporting and engaging in broader business development activities with existing and target clients in the region.
- BS degree in engineering
- PE license
- 7 years of experience in substation design/engineering
- 2 years of project management experience
- Design software: PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Auto Pipe, Revit, or other applicable software
- MS degree
- PMP certification
- Understanding of project life cycle, contract terms and project risk, work breakdown structures, project scope/schedule/budget, project initiation, project planning, financial management and controls, including earned value, internal/external communication, team management, change management, and project closeout.
