We’re partnering with a growing automation and controls business in St. Louis that is looking to hire a Senior Controls Engineer
.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced controls engineer with a strong electrical background to take ownership of automation projects from concept through commissioning, while working closely with customers and internal engineering teams.
Candidates local to St. Louis are preferred, though relocation may be considered for someone with clear ties to the area.
The RoleYou will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning control systems across a variety of industrial automation projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and commission PLC, HMI, and control system solutions
- Support electrical controls design, including schematics, panel layouts, and technical documentation
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, drives, and related automation equipment
- Lead or support projects from concept through installation and startup
- Work directly with customers to understand requirements and provide technical solutions
- Troubleshoot controls, electrical, and automation issues
- Support project timelines, budgets, and technical delivery
- Travel to customer sites as required, typically up to 20%
- Strong controls engineering, automation, or electrical controls experience
- PLC programming experience, ideally Allen-Bradley/Rockwell
- HMI and/or SCADA experience
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and controls design knowledge
- Ability to read and develop electrical schematics
- Experience supporting projects through commissioning and startup
- Strong communication skills and customer-facing ability
- Based in St. Louis or open to relocating with clear ties to the area
- Studio 5000, Control Logix, RSLogix, or similar platforms
- AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software
- Systems integration, industrial automation, or machine controls background
- Experience managing project scope, timelines, or budgets
- Ability to mentor junior engineers or act as a technical lead
- Base salary expected in the upper $120k-$140k range, depending on experience
- Overtime and/or commission opportunities
- Relocation consideration for the right candidate
