AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Remediation group in St. Louis, MO. The successful candidate will work under the oversight of experienced engineers and scientists on environmental site assessments, remedial and solid waste design and construction, and environmental support on multi‑disciplinary projects. This position involves field and office responsibilities with potential for growth.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
- Detects problems when using standardized procedures due to sample condition, equipment difficulties, etc.
- Conducts specific phases of projects under guidance of more experienced scientists.
- Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques, and assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
- Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Flexible with working extended hours and locations; travel may be greater than 50% of time.
- Must be able to do day travel regionally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or engineering or related fields, AND two plus (2+) years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- Valid driver's license.
- Subject to pre‑employment background check.
- Due to some of the sites, U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency is required. Sponsorship will not be available for this role now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in sometimes challenging conditions.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, colleagues and subcontractors alike.
- Willingness and ability to learn and rapidly master new tasks.
- Scientific research and report writing (including web‑based research).
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Strong quality and time management.
- Self‑starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative.
- Solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work.
- Seeking professional certifications.
- 40‑hr OSHA HAZWOPER certificate.
- Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS applications.
