Senior Technician – Controls Solutions. Responsible for testing HVAC components, writing reports, maintaining test equipment, and providing leadership within the lab.
Responsibilities- Test HVAC components in compliance with agency standards.
- Write detailed test reports.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment.
- Address gauge calibration issues.
- Assist with agency submittals and communicate directly with agency contacts.
- Serve as 5S + 1 safety leader for the lab.
- Mentor associate engineers and less senior technicians, preparing documentation.
- Create test procedures and fixtures.
- Recommend solutions to address test failures (local or global).
- Maintain records on tests, equipment maintenance, and calibration.
- Manage lab test schedules and resolve scheduling conflicts with engineers.
- Plan, organize, coach, and lead laboratory technicians as required.
- Serve as primary lab contact for Facilities and Maintenance.
- Specify and request new/replacement lab equipment.
- Train associate engineers and new engineering employees on test procedures.
- Associate of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in HVACR component testing and agency certification.
- Proficiency with environmental chambers, data acquisition systems, flow/pressure gauges, and voltmeters.
- Advanced knowledge of gas furnaces, water heating, and HVACR systems.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with international agency standards applicable to customers’ products.
- Experience with scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project.
- Report writing and analysis skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab.
- Expertise in either Heating or Cooling controls testing.
- Gas Valve agency certification (CSA).
- Experience in new product development (NPD) of HVAC controls.
- Advanced LabVIEW skills.
