Job Description
- Develop detailed substation design drawings, including:
- Physical layouts & plan/elevation views
- One-line and three-line diagrams
- Wiring diagrams and schematics
- Control building layouts and cable routing
- Perform redlines and drawing updates based on engineer markups
- Support AIS and GIS substation design projects
- Utilize design tools such as AutoCAD and/or Micro Station
- Assist with 3D modeling (if applicable) and clash detection
- Ensure drawings meet utility, IEEE, and client standards
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to meet deadlines
- New substation builds (138kV-345kV) for expanding utility demand
- Substation expansions & upgrades (breaker replacements, bus modifications)
- Renewable interconnection substations (solar & wind projects)
- Protection & control upgrades for grid modernization
- Digital substation and automation projects
The Successful Applicant
A successful Substation Designer should have:
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of substation design principles and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Background or experience in the energy and natural resources sector is advantageous.
- Hourly pay ranging from $65 to $75, depending on experience.
