Primary Responsibilities
HDR's Traffic Engineer will serve as a project manager or technical leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, traffic safety and operational analysis, traffic signal/lighting/signing/striping design, and project development, including managing and coordinating technical analysis for Traffic EITs on multiple projects; develop traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, historic/predictive safety analysis, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic simulation modeling, and macroscopic simulation modeling;
prepare plans, specifications, and estimates documents including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, and Intelligent Traffic Systems for various state and local agencies; prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget; work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews;
implement project quality plans; and review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
- A Master's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in traffic engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in traffic engineering.
- Required experience must include experience in: traffic safety analysis; traffic signal analysis and design; data analysis using MS Excel and Python;
Highway Capacity Software (HCS);
Synchro; VISSIM; SIDRA;
Open Roads; GEOPAK; and Micro Station. - Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position. Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates.
- Regional or national travel to project sites or conferences twice per year for 2 or 3 days per trip.
