The Welding Engineer is a hands-on role responsible for supporting production within the welding department. This includes weld fixture design, development and documentation of welding processes, programming, and equipment specification. This role supports a variety of welding methods including MIG, TIG, spot, and flash welding, while also contributing to broader fabrication and assembly processes.
The position plays a key role in identifying and resolving quality and process issues in existing production, while introducing new methods and improvements to increase efficiency and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, implement, and analyze manufacturing processes and systems
* Design and coordinate procurement of weld fixtures
* Evaluate, improve, and document welding processes
* Diagnose and resolve manufacturing and production issues
* Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
* Support production and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance
* Set up and support production equipment as needed
* Monitor and inspect parts during production to ensure quality standards are met
* Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers
* Support cross-functional teams, including sales and project teams, with technical input and customer interactions
* Assist in maintaining manufacturing equipment and overall production readiness

* Handle sensitive technical information in accordance with internal policies

Skills & Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field required
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with robotic MIG welding
* Experience in fabrication or welded assembly processes preferred
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong understanding of welding processes and manufacturing techniques
* Familiarity with production environments, equipment, and process flow
* Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions independently
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work across departments
* Ability to maintain accurate documentation and manage multiple priorities effectively
* Experience working with cross-functional teams and external partners
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $43.00/hr.
