We’re looking for a detail‑oriented Substation Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of high‑voltage substation projects (32.4–500kV). This role involves hands‑on design work, technical documentation, and collaboration across engineering teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery.
What Your Day Will Look Like- Create and modify one‑lines, cable schedules, BOMs, layouts, relay panel arrangements, schematics, and cable lists for high‑voltage substations.
- Prepare engineering and construction estimate documents for new installations or modifications to existing substations, including BOMs, RTU lists, and electrical details.
- Develop and revise technical specifications for major substation equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, and control houses.
- Coordinate with other engineers to integrate protection, control, and monitoring systems.
- Provide engineering and construction support throughout project phases.
- Apply field mark‑ups to as‑built drawings and perform basic calculations (e.g., voltage drop, CT burden/saturation, lighting, short circuit) with minimal supervision.
- Travel up to 25% may be required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including temporary coverage of other roles as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience, or 1 year with a master’s degree.
- Passed FE exam or actively working toward it.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI) preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- Valid driver’s license for multi‑state travel.
- Working knowledge of Excel and AutoCAD is a plus.
