Day In The LifeAs Lead Project Engineer
, you will report to the Manager of Project Engineering. Responsibilities include providing customer technical support from contract through delivery, maintaining customer relationships, minimizing costs and risk, supporting supplier selection and resolution of technical issues, transferring design information, and assisting onsite with technical and logistics issues.
Key tasks include:
- Managing supplier subcontracts through all project phases to ensure timely delivery and compliance with contract specifications.
- Providing technical support and maintaining customer relationships throughout contract to delivery.
- Selecting technically acceptable fabrication suppliers and resolving supplier clarifications, exceptions, nonconformances, and fabrication issues.
- Transferring design information from the NE project design team and customers, including documentation transmission.
- Assisting the Lead Field Project Engineer to resolve technical and logistics issues during field construction.
- Minimizing risks and costs to the company.
- At least 5 years of experience in an engineering/technical role in a related field (project execution).
- General knowledge of applicable boiler and steel construction codes (ASME, ASTM, AISC, etc.).
- Skill in reviewing and understanding contract specifications.
- Proficient critical thinking skills—ability to discern technical queries, assess cost and schedule impacts, and act accordingly.
- Strong ability to lead and coordinate with internal/subcontract/detail resources for urgent support.
- Proficiency in reviewing supplier drawings and technical documents.
- Experience as a technical lead and point of contact for customers, erectors, and supply base.
- BS degree in engineering or a suitable 4-year degree.
- SQL/VBA database training or experience preferred.
- Strong multitasking skills with proper priority maintenance.
- Strong communication skills—read, write, problem solve, make quick decisions, interpret data, and analyze results.
Domestic and international travel up to 20% required.
