Job OverviewThe Solutions Engineer (SE) is a sales‑and‑technical role that supports the sales organization by providing deep technical expertise on F5 solutions and the associated ecosystem. The SE works closely with the Sales Director and Solutions Engineering team to achieve sales targets and sell the most relevant F5 solutions to enterprise customers in North America. The role requires excellent understanding of F5 products and the broader architecture, and the SE serves as a trusted adviser who proposes effective solutions and business benefits.
Responsibilities- Articulate F5 product strategy, messaging, and positioning to align with customer business objectives.
- Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, solution designs, demonstrations, and proofs of concept across in‑person and virtual platforms.
- Mentor and educate sales teams on the value of F5 solutions and business drivers.
- Determine viability of opportunities and map out organizational structure.
- Drive the sales process with the Account Manager, identifying the technical decision maker and securing technical validation and sponsorship.
- Consistently deliver world‑class customer service throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Collaborate with internal technical and sales resources, sharing best practices and seeking expertise as needed.
- Intelligent load balancing, application acceleration, and request routing.
- Application security principles/tools, including web application firewalls, L7 DoS solutions, and bot defense.
- Web serving, dynamic content caching, TLS/SSL and compression offload.
- BS/BA degree in a relevant field (CS, EE, MIS) or equivalent experience.
- Experience as a sales engineer selling across a multi‑product portfolio.
- Knowledge of traffic management and load‑balancing technologies such as F5, Citrix, Riverbed, Kemp, or others.
- Deep understanding of HTTP, web servers, and web applications plus associated protocols (TCP/IP, Web Socket, SPDY/HTTP2, SSL, SMTP, POP, DNS).
- Skills in Linux/UNIX‑based systems and networking technologies, including internet security products and services.
- Experience with cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.) and building SaaS solutions.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization, and API development/management.
- Experience in a Dev Ops environment and with enterprise customers.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
Annual base pay: $101,100 – $151,700, with incentive compensation, bonuses, and restricted stock units available. Benefits include a comprehensive program that may evolve over time.
