Job Summary
The Process Engineer serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to safely execute the supply plan. The Process Engineer enables safe and reliable production at a low cost that meets or exceeds customer requirements. This role requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in the primary discipline and a basic understanding of related disciplines to solve complex problems.
The Process Engineer will work closely with other individuals and teams to establish production commitments, coordination for maintenance, and conversion cost goals within safe operating parameters and procedures.
- Works closely with the operations team, leveraging their problem‑solving skills and technical expertise.
- Owns day‑to‑day production troubleshooting and leads cross‑functional teams to address production issues.
- Collects and categorizes lost production to prevent shortfalls in the supply plan.
- Monitors and collects yield, energy usage, and sustainability data to achieve cost, conversion, and sustainability metric goals.
- Measures the performance of machinery uptime and maintenance issues to ensure reliable, low‑cost, high‑quality production.
- Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies.
- Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and executes effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Provides expertise in diagnosis and optimization of plant raw material and utility usage, including yield or waste generation.
- Is responsible for validating and improving the technical skills of operations team members.
- Supports maintaining up‑to‑date and accurate standard operating procedures.
- Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the manufacturing process.
- Learns and applies continuous improvement, value creation, and financial acumen skills to accelerate profitability and low‑cost service of the facility.
- Drives high levels of safety, quality, responsiveness, and reliability for the customer.
- Develops operator and supervisor training programs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required;
Chemical Engineering preferred. - 2 years of manufacturing and engineering experience required; experience in the chemical industry preferred.
- Certifications in Six Sigma (Green Belt, Lean) preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills required.
- Capacity to work with limited supervision in a rapidly changing and fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to teach/train staff members at all levels.
- Collaborative approach with other departments, teams, and stakeholders.
- Fluent in verbal and written communication within the operations team and with other departments.
